Sr. IT Specialist


The Sr. IT Specialist will be responsible for maximizing engineering and operations tools to provide hands-on support and IT services for the Alvogen/Almatica business. The position will work closely with the US IT team as a lead for various projects and initiatives to further support the business growth.




This position will have direct line reporting to US IT Director, with main responsibilities focused on Alvogen and Almatica US infrastructure, applications, and daily operations.  This position will leverage advanced knowledge and skills to succeed as an IT architect, Systems manager, and Network engineer.



Primary responsibilities of this role include the following:

  1. Desktop/Laptop Computer management
    1. Develop and maintain standard Windows computer and Apple configurations for end-user computers and iPads.
    2. Configure and deploy computers/iPads and associated peripheral equipment to meet the needs of the business.
    3. Maintain deployed computers/iPads through troubleshooting, repair and/or replacement
    4. Manage inventory, tracking and disposal of end-user IT equipment
    5. Maintain strong security posture of user devices and rapidly respond to potential security incidents.
  2. Utilize Microsoft Intune and SCCM for:
    1. User computer (Windows and iPad) deployment and administration
    2. Monitoring and maintaining endpoint compliance to established policies
    3. Patching and upgrading operating systems and software applications
  3. Desktop Software Management
    1. Install and configure general purpose end-user desktop software.
    2. Provide daily user support for installed desktop applications and Apple applications.
    3. Investigate, evaluate and recommend software applications to meet business needs
    4. Maintain inventory of installed desktop software
    5. Maintain software media and installation files
  4. Network Printer Support (including copiers/scanners)
    1. Installation of new network printers and network attached scanning devices
    2. Maintain network printers through routine maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and/or replacement
    3. Coordinate associated vendor-provided services
  5. User Account Management
    1. Perform user account management including user account creation, password resets, and granting/revoking system access.
    2. Perform PowerShell scripting for automation.
  6. Special Purpose Computer Support
    1. Provide technical support for computers used as dedicated control systems for laboratory and manufacturing processes.
    2. Provide imaging and restore services for special purpose computers upon request of the business unit responsible for the equipment
    3. Management of computer, audio, and projection systems for conference rooms.
  7. Server/Network Infrastructure Support (under the direction of the Infrastructure Manager)
    1. Routine configuration / maintenance of server and network hardware infrastructure.
    2. Perform internal and cloud Infrastructure incident and problem management support for the US and global locations impacting US.
    3. Maintain systems, applications, security and network configurations to streamline, improve and sustain a resilient highly available infrastructure.
  8. Business Application Support
    1. Provide user and administrative support for business applications as assigned.
    2. Provision and configure O365 solutions including SharePoint and Microsoft’s Business Intelligence technologies to create sites and dashboards.
  9. Documentation
    1. Develop and maintain system documentation
    2. Develop and maintain user training materials
  10. Global Coordination
    1. Work with global peers to develop and maintain standards for service delivery and security
    2. Coordinate with global peers on global technology initiatives
    3. Manage local deployment of global initiatives associated with user services.


Secondary responsibilities of this role include the following:

  1. Act as backup support resource for local servers, networks and applications.
  2. Apple product support SME.
  3. Other work as assigned by IT management.




Education requirements: BS in information technology strongly preferred.  AS degree or compensatory work experience would be considered.


Work Experience: 5+ years

  • Hands-on experience with configuring, maintaining and monitoring network and system platforms and tools in multi-tier enterprise environments with a strong working knowledge of networking technologies and tools.
  • Working understanding of network/system infrastructure support including routers, switches, firewalls, bandwidth aggregators, wireless access, telephony equipment, printers, power conditioning, infrastructure cabling, etc.
  • Basic working knowledge of SharePoint designing and Business Intelligence.
  • Experience with any of the following is a plus: Quality Management systems, Submissions systems, Serialization and other electronic systems in the life science industry.
  • Thoroughly understands requirements for computer systems management and validation within a GxP regulated environment.
  • Highly organized with a passion for cloud technology integration, system and process efficiency, maximized solution supportability and fiscal management effectiveness
  • Self-learner that continually advances personal awareness, skills, capabilities and understand emerging technologies. Passionate about work and creating quality solutions.
  • Occasional travel is required.
